Day 10: The ‘Carlton’ Bag (words by Gayle Cutajar)

Posted by in Exclusive, Fashion

Fashion stylist-cum-fashion writer, Gayle Cutajar, chats to Carlton Agius about his Charles&Ron namesake bag.

Stylish and fashion-forward, Carlton Agius took some time out from his busy schedule as a creative assistant to Malta’s leading, contemporary  lifestyle brand, Charles&Ron, to tell us all about the ‘Carlton’ Bag.

Where you a big part of their latest collection? How did you inspire them?

As my position suggests, being a creative assistant means I have a substantial role in the designs, as I assist the whole design process, starting from the early stages of designs and textile. I wouldn’t say I’ve inspired them, though, as Malta and our culture is the main inspiration for our collections.

Why is fashion so important to you and how did you get interested?

For me, fashion is not just something important, but a big part of who I am. Since I was a little boy, I was always interested in draping fabrics, reworking my own clothes and being a wardrobe assistant to my older sister!

carltonBefore the ‘Carlton’ Clutch was born, did they consult with you or was it a surprise? How involved where you in the process?

It was a consultation, as they wanted to design a bag that fits all my essentials for day-to-day errands while keeping practicality, style and comfort in mind.

Who do you envision buying your clutch?

Those who want to invest their money in a timeless larger-form clutch bag.

The first two bags were in black or in white. Which colour do you think best describes you?

I’d say white. I’m a very positive person, and white, in my opinion, reflects purity and clarity.

Will we be seeing another ‘Carlton’ Bag for 2016?

The ‘Carlton’ Bag is part of the Spring/Summer 2015 collection. However, we might see it in more colours next year, yes!

Special thanks to Carlton Agius for being part of this project, Gayle Cutajar for the lovely article, Carlton Agius for the photography, and the wonderful management & staff at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in Attard for providing us with the premises and refreshments.
