Il Volo in Pictures
IL VOLO’s visit to San Anton Palace is captured by photographer ALBERT CAMILLERI, as IGGY FENECH interviews tenor IGNAZIO BOSCHETTO
Yesterday, Il Volo paid a visit to HE Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, the President of Malta, at her official residence in San Anton Palace. The three members of the operatic pop group, Il Volo – made up of baritone Gianluca Ginoble, and tenors Ignazio Boschetto and Pierro Barone – were also greeted by members of their fan club, Il Volo Malta, as well as the press. We also spoke to Ignazio Boschetto about why they’re excited to play in Malta, their inspiration behind their video for ‘Grande Amore’ (which has been viewed over 40,000,000 times on YouTube) and what they’ll be wearing at tonight’s concert at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali.
“It’s our first time in Malta and, from what we’ve seen so far, it’s great!” says Ignazio. “Malta reminds me of my hometown of Marsala in Sicily, so it feels good to be here.
“We’re now very excited to perform and to experience all the emotions that come from being up on stage,” he continues. “At tomorrow’s concert, we’re proud to be wearing suits that have been styled for us by the fashion house of Armani.”
When asked about the inspiration behind Grande Amore, Ignazio said, “The video is a mashup of our favourite movies – and that can be seen through the different scenes and set-ups in it. It wouldn’t have been possible, however, to bring our ideas to life without the help of producer, Marco Russo.”
Il Volo – Live in Malta will take place tonight at 9pm at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali. To get your hands on one of the last few remaining tickets, please visit www.ticketline.com.mt. Also, check out Albert Camilleri’s awesome work on Instagram and Twitter.
